If you have seen people choreographing a dance so well and would wish to become and expert, you would need to know that it is possible to become one but it always tends to start from somewhere. One would need to listen to a song to an extent where the song in question syncs with his or her system. However, you would need to remember that getting the right song tends to be the hardest or even the easiest part of choreographing. In some instances, it is possible to hear a song for the first time and just know that it is the one. However, there are instances you crawl the entire library but still do not get the best song. Listening to a song with intent tends to be critical after selecting it. You would then move on to understanding your moves something that can best be done after visualizing your song.
You would also need to make sure that you are actively inspired. You would need to remember that choreography tends to demand every day practicing for one to become a better dancer. That way, you would not have to draw your inspiration exclusively from other people. It would only be possible to explore more especially where you practice more.
You would also need to know that freestyle tends to be critical in choreographing. You would not have to use the exact moves in your piece. It would be as essential to let the body move to the music. Make sure to play the entire song and let the body responds to the music. It would also be critical to note that your body tends to naturally moves to some specific types of sounds. Through freestyling, it is possible to build the first layer of your choreography.
You would also need to learn how to piece combos to make sure there is a seamless flow. You would also need to take time to understand the breakdown, the instrumental interlude, as well as the climax of your song. It would be easier to work on chunks that come easier and later work one the rest around it. You would also need to remember that simply because a certain combo is not crazy does not mean it does not have potential of looking amazing. You would need to work as hard on slow movements as hard as on the fast and erotic movements.
It would also be critical to make sure that your piece is not only perfected in your head but also in the movement of the body. You would also need to remember that your piece would have to look exactly how you choreograph. You may also need to figure out whether you need any edits and make rectifications where need be. You would also need to know that tucking the pieces together can be rough especially if you are new to dance choreographing.
